KW V3 Coilovers. Big Bang over potholes.
535XIT . I bought it with KW V3 preinstalled.
Everything drives fine except there is a massive bang when i hit potholes. At first i thought it was my 20s getting banged up so I took them off and are currently running my winter 17s. The big bang still occurs.
Is this the loose strut top nut problem that i read about? Can this be torqued without removing the coilover?
Any other ideas or thoughts
Thanks

i assume you're hearing the noise from the front? if so, I would check two things:
-proper torque at the upper strut mount nut.
-check to see that your pinch bolt that holds the strut to the spindle hasn't backed out. this DID happen to me. BMW states that virtually all suspension fasteners are one time use and should be replaced any time you do suspension work. I reused the pinch bolt and nut when I installed by bilstein/eibachs. 4 months down the road i would get a horrific 'bang' from the front end any time i went over a pot hole or speed bump. i took the front wheels off and found both pinch bolts were completely loose, even though i had retorqued them with a proper torque wrench to factory specs. I replaced the bolts and nuts with new ones from BMW, problem solved.
good luck.
