The driver's and passenger's Temperature Control Knobs have a "notch" in the metal ring which shows where you have the tempurature set (i.e. 70). Is that small notch supposed to light up? The center of the knob (Manual Air Distribution) lights up but the outside Temp ring "notch" does not. Is it supposed to? Thanks.

Take a look at a picture of Iceman's dash at night -- does your car look like this?

Rudy- Ask BMWNA to put you under contract, immediately. You have an amazing wealth of knowledge- really valuable. Yes, the pic you posted shows those two Temp knobs with the designating notch lighted. Mine do not light. So a trip in for service is warranted. Thank you for the help!

One of the things I don't like about the E60 dash at night is the lack of lighting for the air vent controls. They are completely dark so you have to feel around which is kind of silly when you consider that the cheapest cars on the planet have them lit. My E39 did as well, so not sure why BMW removed this simple feature. Hmmm ... wondering if new 7 has them lit now ... If it does the F10 will as well ...

Come to think of it though, this is the ONLY thing I don't like about the E60's interior at night. I don't remember if the center console has an interior light either. If not, it should.

Rambling ... sorry.

And I agree that Rudy is not only a great asset to these unofficial forums but to BMW as well.

Rudy, what are the white or blue lights next to heating seat light? I don't have those on my 545i.

New heated- and ventilated-seat controls have single LEDs on the switch with three stages of brightness for the level of heating or ventilation, rather than three separate LEDs each.
