Yesterday I was driving my 2900 km old 535D. At and motorway entrance I coasted at 9O kph (55 mph) to let an 18 wheelers pass me.
I noticed that the car was jerking at this stalibilised speed first time I noticed it).
After I floored the accelerator and the nothing happened for a delay between 1/2 to a second. Then the car kicked down a accelerated at full power.
Sine then I noticed that the car was totally not as responsive as it was.
By the way: for the first time the temp was above 20 ?C (influence?).
Any other experiences?
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I am driving a 530d with automatic gearbox as well. I always notice a 1/2 sec delay when kicking down, whatever the actual speed is. But I am not using it frequently a the torque is more than enough !
ps : remember that 20? in France is 72?F on this forum !

535D,
I have been complaining about this for some time now.
I have had a new transmission fitted as well as an as yet unreleased version of software from ZF installed for the gearbox.
Still no change and in fact it may even be a bit worse now specially when coasting almost to a stop and the accelerating.
Hopefully there may be a fix sometime soon.

I've seen this too with my 530d - I believe the act of coasting while waiting for the gap to enter the motorway allows the gearbox to change up then when you try to pull away it has to change down two gears to get you going.
I was caught out once and almost got rear-ended as I pulled out of a sliproad. Now I am aware of it and I am "coasting-with-intent" I knock the 'box into DS and keep my revs in mind. Usually then you do not need to kick-down but simply use the engine torque to pull you away.
Either way- the kickdown response time should be better for a car of this class.
