Key Question

I recently moved and lost my spare key. My car is still under warranty...is it possible to get a replacement key covered under the warranty?

Yeaaaaa..my gut says no. But thought I'd ask and see what the general consensus is here before I call the dealer.

I'm going to say no... You lost it, you are SOL.

Absolutely no way they will. If you are a SUPER DUPER customer and they have made LOTS of money on you and you have a very good relationship with them, they might give you a nice discount or something, but I wouldn't expect anything.

It is amazing to me though how many people out there actually cause damage themselves to their car and then take it to the dealer because it's under warranty and get it repaired for free... To me, thats like going into a store and switching out price tags for a cheaper price. I'm not saying you or anyone on this site are doing this, so don't take this comment the wrong way, but you would be amazed at how many people actually do though. When I used to be a cheater, I did it too, then I couldn't sleep well at night! Ha!!!

Agree with the others. There is a difference between getting a replacement fob for one that has failed vs one you lost. The former may be covered because it's possible the failure was due to a mfg defect. Not so much with a key that's MIA. Of course it's like the lottery - you can't win if you don't try. You might get lucky!

Right on guys... No luck. I could get a replacement if the key was not operational but no go for loss. Had to give it a try though.
