I'm pretty sure I heard mine chime with the keys in the ignition, but maybe that was with the door opened! Anyhow I just turn on the radio without the keys and it seems to work fine
Interesting, I'm not able to turn on the radio without the key in the ACC position...?
(I'm on at least Progman V25)

But anyway, one hours of the car with the doors left open and the radio on kills my (brand new!) battery..

I'm using trickle charger bi-weekly and also carry a jump-starter in the back just to make sure.
(I have been burnt before...)

Wow - that's really strange Bingo...never happened to me and Ive even plugged in the waxer into the lighter socket with the radio on and not had battery issues. Sure your car isn't draining it's charge somewhere????

I know the LCIs have this problem improved on - the question as to the chiming refers purely to NON LCI vehicles... There has got to be a fix/solution, maybe even a Progman update????

Check ebay - it's all of $5.00 + S+H
Really, for a real OEM leather one? Cool. I figured my dealer would have supplied it when I bought the car. Thanks for the tip.

Yep - not sure if its OEM but its leather for sure with the BMW logo on it. I have two extras in case I lose mine -bought off the web - and they're still good as new since the first day I bought em 3 yrs ago!!!
