I posted a little while back that I got my ass handed to me by a Rousch Mustang. Come to find out a week or so ago, a good friend of mine and a reliable source (Mustang fanatic) let me know that the 'Stang was on the bottle!
That explains why it seemed like someone threw out the anchor.
I don't feel so bad now.

And as for posers, Jeffs: There's some dude running around my neck of the woods with a 525i that's done up with an M-Tech kit along with the M5 badge. Looks more believable now that he threw on a B&B... But I know.

Hmm....on the bottle?? Did u mean nitrous???

haha....c'mon E60 posers.....show yourselves!!!!

P.S. speaking of posers I was guilty of being one. My X5 3.0 had 4.6i front and rear aprons and 20' 4.6 rims
good think I stopped doing that. In fact, I put a 525 badge for fun once and smoked an E350 couple months back....imagine the look on his face

Hahahaha.....what has your wife gotta do with this??? Yeah the track is the safest place to be in a race. driving really fast on the highway is stupid with all the risks involved, I agree. However...sometimes my left foot has a mind of its own so I confess.....
Your left foot, or do you mean your right foot?

Steptronic owner, just slipped it into DS mode, and I went from 60 mph to 125 mph in a matter of seconds. The Mustang had an inital lead, but as I hit 80 or 90, I was clearly ahead. It was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never beat a Cobra before!! BTW this was also the first time I ever went above 100mph in a new 550i. I had just finished my break in period last week.
There is a "Kills" thread in the "The Competition" forum.
Anyone have the specs on the a late 90's Cobra?
Here are the basic data on the very fast naturally aspirated kind from a year 2000 MT test.

"Our acceleration tests revealed steam catapult-like launches with 60 mph arriving in just 4.4 seconds and the quarter taking 12.9 seconds at 110.8 mph. That compares favorably with the Corvette's 4.8-second run to 60 and 13.3 at 108.6 through the quarter mile."

I don't think either of us beat this kind.
Definitely 2000. There was a much more recent comparison between the naturally aspirated one mentioned above and the supercharged 2003 (or was in introduced in late 2002). I did not run across that comparison test.

You're right Ipse. I am pleased to inform you we had no traffic behind or in front of us for at least within a 1 mile radius. You would probalby get along great with my wife. But what a thrill as this is my first racing BMW experience to remember!
I agree in principle about the track and not the street, but not always in practice. And, I'll give up my carefully-chosen-time-and-place occassional streeties when eveyone else gives up their possibly even more dangerous driving activities, including, for example, cell phones, extra loud music, arguing, eating, computing, watching TV, reading, putting on makeup, having consumed drugs or alcohol, driving way over the speed limit, driving way under the speed limit, cornering/handling activities, etc., etc. My personal favorite is trying to get some unfamiliar BMW function to work while driving.

No kidding. Might as well drive a Toyota Corola if one is not allowed to stretch their legs a bit on the highway. What is the big deal as long as you're not driving recklessly...like weaving in and out of traffic or something stupid. Do you guys that say "take it to the track" to drive fast really always drive the speed limit or stay less than 10 mph over the speed limit and why would you judge someone on a forum about how they drive their car if you were not there to see how reckless they were behaving? It is like having your parents or a nanny on the forum.

But, I respect your opinion and it helps make this a great forum...with all the different personalities and opinions. So please don't stop being yourself.

PS: I drive safely but fast sometimes...okay, most of the time, and do not race people. And, I wish I had a track to take mine to.

Thanks for that dismissive warning, Sleek. Frankly, I don't trust you or your car at 143 mph on a public road, much less, a congested metropolitan NY Parkway. We both know what happens when you get caught.
