I purchased my unpainted trunk finisher for $156 including tax and freight.
Do I install it first then take it to the paint shop OR get it painted first then install?

You can get the Finisher from Garry at BMW of Newport for around $140. Tell him you are an E60.net member. He gives us members a 25% discount on all OEM parts, including wheels. And of course, no tax if out of the state of Rhode Island. Shipping isn't too bad either.

I now see that they didn't charge me for tax, because I don't live in Rhode Island?
List Price: $192.75
Net Price: $144.56
Shipping: $12.00
Total I paid: $156.56
I will take pictures after I finish my installation.
You will see heartbreaking dent on my trunk from hitting the trash can while reversing out of my drive way.
I now see that they didn't charge me for tax, because I don't live in Rhode Island?

What exactly does the trunk finisher do besides hide the keyhole? Seems everyone is sold on the finisher so they probably are an improvement but I honestly don't see how it imporoves over the oem. Same question with that rear lower bumper mod. Thanks.
