Hey all,
I just purchased my first BMW, it is a 2008 BMW 528i, 20k miles, it is pretty much the base model except the added the premium leather. So no Xenon lights or Navigation, etc...
So just a couple quick questions...
1) Can i add after market Xenon lights to this car? if so, what brands do you recommend? i found a kit from Phillips for $269, is that a good kit? or is there another you recommend?
2) Is there ANYWAY i can somehow add the factory navigation system to the car? I have a portable one i have installed, but i would much rather have the stock navigation, if possible.
thanks in advance!

My Ride: 2006 530xi. Deep green with beige interior. 6 speed manual. Premium package.
I had an 06 without Navigation and wished I had got it. Looking at pics of it in other cars made me jealous and it seemed to make the dash look more complete. I used TomToms for navigation.
I just got an 08 with Navigation and I can not tell you how disappointed I am. It does fill out the dash a little better. The portable are so much better and easier to use. Inputting a new destination with the idrive takes a while and the voice inout part is almost painful. The touch screen on the aftermarket ones are so much more efficient.
So to answer question number two: yes it is possible - can find them from time to time on ebay and you will need some dealer help such as software updating, but I would stick with the aftermarket. It is better to wish you had it, then get it and wish you had not.

ya, i understand that. I had built in navi in my last car, and loved it. It is just nice and looks clean to have a built in navigation system, compared to having to mount the navi on the dash. However, as you said, i figured it would be somewhat difficult to enter destinations since it isn't touch screen and all. I am currently using a Magellan Roadmate 1700, very nice, 7" LCD screen. Probably the biggest on the market.

surprisingly, the unit only cost me $195! Which I thought is a steal for the amazing 7" LCD.
I have the Platinum Bronze Metallic color (second favor color to the Alpine White)
The car had 19,899 miles on it when i bought it last friday, and i paid $31,000 for it, it is CPO. Looking all over autotrader and cars.com it seems to be a very good deal, there are a few cheaper ones, but they are like 1,500-2,000 miles away. I also got 2.9% APR from BMW, so I don't think i got screwed over at all.
I was choosing between this 528i or a 335i with 4k miles, w/nav, sport and premium package for $30k, but for some reason the 335i wasn't CPO..it just seemed weird to me. So i went with the 528i
