K I was on the freeway cruising at about 80 mph on my way home and a 335i happened to be on my tail for the last couple minutes. After I had switched lane (from far left to middle) he got up his car right beside mine, we were side to side maintaining the speed at about 80-85 MPH. I guess after enough throwing glances at each other's car for about 15 seconds (it was pretty dark 7:30 PM, but I can see the driver inside), the other guy decided to floor it. Of course in response to his challange I switched to DS mode and hit full throttle. At first he seemed to be gaining distance from me due to the headstart, from 80-110 mph I couldn't close the distance but managed to keep the distance from getting any further (it was about 3/4 car length). After reaching 110 MPH, this is where the V8 kicks in... the 335i's twin turbo seems to start losing its power and as I reach 130-140, I just completely surpassed him.
Both of the cars were pretty much stock, but I had the aFe CAI stage 2 mod on my 550i (11.75 more HP, so they say...)
Well the thrill ride didn't last too long after reaching 140 mph becuz I was nearing my Exit... but it was quite fun tho I would have loved it if it had gone longer... (more risks of getting caught by the cops also )
btw is the 335i coupe speed limiter set to 130 or 150? I been wondering about this...

140 on a public freeway in the bay area? If you're telling the truth, you are a total a-hole. Not cool, my family lives there (as do millions of others) and that shit is not OK. You should lose your car and your license. Try a track day at Infineon if you want to go fast. And don't give me "the freeway was empty" line...I've been to the Bay Area at 7:30 PM.
You give BMW drivers a bad name.

and westcoast550 it's not a BS, if you know your 550, you know very well that the 550i's can go up to 150 MPH

My Ride: I have a 2007 Black Sapphire BMW 530i with SMG. It has the auburn interior, has PDC, Sports Package, Premium Package, rear automatic sunshades with manual side sunshades, 35% black tint, Upgraded angeleyes from Angelibrights, and Logic 7 Sound System
Model Year: 2007
i dont think that was bs, the 550i in the top end should outperform the 335i, even with less weight; unless there is something that I am missing? V8>I6 with two small turbos?

careful with the speeding/racing guys, where i am, 50 over speed limit = loss of vehicle+suspension of license.
and of course going over 100MPH can get dangerous and ugly. accidents happen accidentally, even if no harm was intended. we all enjoy our e60s, and i totally understand the urge we get to test our toys but do it safely. just my 2cents.

Excellent! Exactly what a lot of us expect. Nice run. Theres plenty of posts about not racing on the streets but use your judgment. When conditions are right floor it a bit... but once you see another car up ahead slow down. Just dont play the who has the bigger balls game. Thats stupid. What you did I dont have much problems with.
