I'll take some pictures as soon as the weather gets better. We got a foot of snow yesterday! Thanks for linking to that thread on the AFE. It's long (29 pages ), but I'll get through it.

I guess I'll put the Remus exhaust back on, pickup another trusty K&N, and put the AFE on eVilBay - what a shame. The Dinan intake claims 18hp and I've been told they don't fudge anything, but at 1,000 bucks it will have to wait.

Anybody else working on something intake wise?

Victory

edit: What vendor should I get a Sprint Booster from?

...in regard to the AFE intake, yes it does actually decrease performance HP's.

I would recc an RPI air scoop + drop-in Air filter...
I haven't gotten through the entire AFE thread, so excuse me if the answer is there. I understand the reason the AFE fails to produce any gains is most likely due to severe heat soak. Being the filter is open in the engine bay without covering there might be little that can be done to solve that problem, but I can't help but wonder has someone tried coupling the RPI scoop with the AFE to see if RAM air alleviates the heat soak issue.

A word of caution if you are interested in performance improvements. Unless you can find some very light wheels/tires (read very expensive) fitting 20's will generally reduce your car's performance (and ride quality).

Thanks for the tip. I don't want to reduce either of those, so I might just stay with the 18s on now.

Big congrats on the new auto!

I am curious to hear what you decided to do? Did you go back to stock? People say that stock is better than those because of the hp loss.

Race Precision, Inc. (RPI) intakes are really popular items here. Our customers are daily giving us happy testimonies.

I picked up my car on Saturday and I absolutely love it. It has the sport suspension, Nav, 18" wheels, and most other options.

When I first saw and drove the car it had a Remus Free Flow Stainless Exhaust - (http://www.remusexhaustshop.com/545i...dan-p-105.html) and a AFE Stage 2 Cold Intake system (https://www******.com/product/produc...54-11142/534.0 - replace *'s with s h o p a t r o n) installed on it. During the certification process they uninstalled them, but gave me the parts (after a bit of haggling) afterwards.

I posted on Bimmerfest asking if it makes sense to reinstall them. I know most CAIs are more form than function and is really just a style choice, but a poster on the other forum stated this intake actually decreases performance. Is this true? What has been the general experience?

I was going to take off the brand new OEM exhaust and intake and put the aftermarket stuff back on, but now I'm wondering. I really like to individialize my cars (not too mention I love the tips on the Remus) but not at the cost of actual performance.

Is there anything else I should be looking to do. Anyone of thoughts on intial mods? I'm planning on getting a rear wing maybe some 20s (it has 18s on it now), the ipod adapter, and some tints.

I've been reading like crazy (and will continue to do so), but any comments that can fast track me would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Victory
