hi guys, i had an adaptive headlight maulfunction on my passenger side headlight. according to the work order i received the "stepper motor" was bad. anyways, i just got a completely new headlight assembly on that that side. i might be asking for too much here but the thing is now my drivers side looks old/used with rock chips/fine scratches while the passenger is brand new with clear glass and new bulbs. is there anything i can do to make them match a little better. i highly doubt bmw will replace the other side unless i have another malfunction but do you guys think they can at least replace the headlight cover to make both sides match?
btw: i already tried to use a plastic restorer to make the scratches/ rock chips go away earlier, that only helped a little bit.
any advice?
thanks

Alternatively, occasionally there are individual headlamps that are sold on ebay or on other BMW classified sites; Or check a high line salvage yard (check the Roundel &/or post a part wanted ad too).

I understand your frustration but I agree that it's probably unlikely that they will do anything else to make it match. My bet is that after a short time, the new one will be chipped and scratched up and you won't notice the difference that much...

take some dirt from you lawn and spread it on the new one and dont wash it for 10 days, I had the same annoying problem when I replaced my headlight of my Mazda RX8, one looked shiny and the other all dull and dim. and it was a white car so the problem was more visible.

Found this procedure that describes how to 'sand' your headlights to get a nice scrtach free look.
Of course, this is at your own risk if you decide to follow it....http://www.nseconsulting.com/bmw/hpt.pdf
Also, I have heard good things about Novus polish from the USA http://www.novuspolish.com/
