Hello all. As of now, I am currently not a BMW owner. Although I am still in the research stage, it has been narrowed down, tough list though; Infiniti M35, BMW X5, GX 470 etc.. The 530 is the only vehicle that my wife and I agree on. Now if we can only agree on the color, both interior and exterior, and to badge or debadge, to sport or not to sport..I think you get the picture.
But one thing I am curious about, and I know newbies tend to revive old topics, but this is worth it.
- Upon my weekly fill up, I noticed at the local Agip, and or Total Fina, (Currently living in Europe) There is either unleaded (called senza piombo or benzina verde - green gas) or diesel (called "gasolio")..I believe. If I accept my US spec 530 while living here and continue to use "Gasolio" (Keep in mind that this "Gasolio" has no 93, 87 or whatever octane grade that the US sticks up there.) Will this affect my car. I mean the gas here is harsh enough on my current american cars. But seeing that the BMW engine is of European decent ....ok ok maybe I'm trying to hard to make that theory work.
- I see quite a few BMW owners filling up at the tank, although I dont know if they are filling up with Diesel or Gasolio. Just curious.

If you put Gasoilo in your new US Spec 530 it will not run as you cannot put DIESEL into a PETROL engined 530. ![Nono](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/nono.gif)

Europian gasoline is much better for cars than the american formulas. They tend to generaly have a much higher octane rating, in the high ninetys. Thats why they get so much power from 1.4ltr. engines. Your beamer should perform better there than in the US. Hope this helps

You know that Gasoilo, always confuses me, You know..gas to gasoilo, and diesel to diesel. Atleast I dont make that mistake while at the pump. But why does this make American gas actually worse? I understand why European gas is considered better, due to the higher octane level and all, That explains why the smell of gas remains in your car, well after you've left the station.
Thanks all for the input. Greatly appreciated.

Once by accident, I put a gallon of diesel in my mustang GT. Man, that engine ran HOT. Never again.
