Hello all,
I just bought a E60 530d Sport second hand from a BMW dealer. It is built 11/05 and first delivered 3/06. I picked it up 4 days ago, with 37000km on it.
I have three things that I'd like to get resolved and am seeking advice as to how to do it. I'd like to know what I can reasonably ask the BMW dealer to do or what I have to do myself.
1. Nokia N73 won't connect via bluetooth. I am able to pair the device with the car and enter a pin number ... but I can't get it work properly. After accepting the pin number the car reports "No Network". How can I fix this? (If I can't fix it, what phone should I purchase to replace the N73 - I need a phone that links to Outlook?). I've just updated the phone firmware and software (today).
2. I have a BMW 6 stacker CD in the glovebox and an in-dash DVD running the Navigation software. Neither will recognise MP3 files yet I see threads here on using MP3. How do I fix this?
3. My Navigation software does not show maps. I have navigation but I don't think it is the business pack ... ie: my screen is not the extra wide variety shown in some of the pics on this site. Is a map option available?
Please be patient ... I'm new. Links to appropriate threads will also be appreciated.
Kind regards,
virgil

to this great forum! To answer your questions:1. The N-Series will work on the BMW blue tooth. Your BMW dealership has a list of phone's which work on the OEM bt. For that phone's, there's also a cradle available, so you can charge your phone. When stored in this cradle, it will also use the external antenna.
There are also other phone's that will work with the OEM bt, only they are not acknowledged by BMW. I know that several Samsungs will work, as well as HTC smart phones.
2. You will need a software update from the dealer for the slot-in. The changer will never read mp3's.
3. For navigation maps, you will have to upgrade to the Professional system (with the wider screen). That's an expensive procedure!

Hi Virgil welcome to the best bmw forum...
1. You have to download a software "download contacts" from the Nokia download site. After this you can send all your
contacts to the BMW bluetooth device. I found this topic somewhere in the phone forum archive. I have a Nokia E90
communicator and it works well.
2 and 3 I agree with LW 78...
My 2 cents hope it helps. Thanks!

Hi LW78,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I've been trying to pair my N73 properly and it just won't stay connected. I've upgraded the phone software. It finds the car, I enter a pin ... on the car it sees the phone, I enter the pin there and it accepts. After that the phone bluetooth symbol (
turns on and off intermittently and the car won't receive a call. Also, my dealer in Sydney, Australia, said that the N73 does not work with the car and that a cradle is not available. Will a car software upgrade fix this? I'm running version E060-06-03-0510!Thanks for your answers on items 2 and 3 ... I'm pursuing these ...
Yes, love the forum and intend to hang around.
Cheers,
virgil, out!

Nikko, if you pair your BMW "approved" phone succesfully, the address book will download automatically.
Thanks for your reply. I paired it and if functions properly with the exception of caller id and phone book. I am assuming that since this phone was released in 2008 (my 545 is 2005) that is the issue. Is there a way to update my car's program for the latest phones?
