July sales of the 5 Series this year were up a very significant 64.2% over last July. YTD sales for the first 7 months of 2005 were up 7.9% from the same period last year.
By comparison, July sales of the Mercedes-Benz E Class were up 11.3% with sales of 5,506 units this month and 4,949 units last July. Sales of the MB E Class were down 19.4% for the first 7 months of 2005.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.

From those numbers it looks like the lion's share of the increase is the xi models which were not available last year. Also, the 545 had the DME problem in July of last year, so that number is lower than it should be. That's when my car was sitting in the port for 30 days.

Explains why I see much more E60s on the roads than last year. The car is losing its uniqueness. :-(

[/quote]Too bad it took BMWNA so long to introduce the xi in the 5 series. I for one, would have "pony upped" in 04 had AWD been available.
My 530xi at 400 miles is a great machine. I'm really looking forward to the 1200 mile mark and open the RPM's up a bit to see how it will really perform.

I got the xi too. If it is for the x, I might have ended up with a MB or Audi.
