Curious if anyone has opionions on these colors on a 2008 550. I think my preference is the deep sea blue. Never had a blue car but this color is really sharp. Never owned black either so not sure how these 3 blacks compare. Dealer does not have all 3 on lot to compare side by side. tks

Jet black is as black as black gets. If you don't have the time to care for the finish yourself, or the money to pay someone else to take care of it for you, well....you know. My first car was black. That was 1985. It took me until late 2010 to buy another black car. I don't regret it (much) but I spend a LOT of time caring for my cars finish. I doubt there is any huge difference with any dark colors, but Jet Black has to be the most difficult and time consuming. Had I found a silver 550 with the same options, I would have bought it. Turns out I found a black one at the right price and will deal with it accordingly

Well sure seems like black is a pain. I have never owned black mainly due to upkeep. Even though I wash every 1-2 weeks i am fearful of swirls, chips and light scratches. I have never liked silver and don't care for it on the 550 so that is out. I have had 2 white BMW's but that is a pretty hard color to find in a 550 and not sure it quite does it for me anyways. Space grey is just blah and I think 2008 had platinum gray mettalic which might work. Deep Sea blue is very nice and might be easier than black. Downside is almost all the 550's are black when looking.

I have Carbon Black 550M-sport. My wife says that I spend to much time cleaning the car. Opinions here are the same as above.

This is my third black BMW and i never buy another than black. If you go with black and if you keep your car in garage than you'll spand less time cleaning it. I do not have garage at this time and mine is outside all the time that why I wash it allmost every week. Once you polish it and put a good paint sealant and wax it 3-4 times a year you should be good. Do not wash it in the car wash places and use care when you wash it. I use two buckets and wash mats not to introduce new swirl marks. Yes sometimes I think I spend much timetaping thisr but it is worth it. Go with black you gonna love it.

I've driven Black cars forever, and though they certainly DO need more care and effort, there is absolutely NOTHING that looks so good when it is clean!!

Balck is a bitch to keep clean, but when they are clean there isn't a color that looks better in my opinion.
