Ok, I was gonna install the JB4 software yesterday but a colleague couldn't make it over to help. So I thought I would give it a try myself. After taking the keys in the house far away and letting the car go to sleep, I guess it was nearly 25 plus minutes... I started the process. The first step tells you to disconnect the two sensor wires on the right side cowling area. When I disconnected the sensor, the lights blinked and the car chirped as I had unlocked the car. So now I am thinking the car is no longer sleeping. I then reconnected the sensor wire with the intent to put the car back to sleep again and then the alarm activated so I ran in the house and grabbed the keys to shut it off. I tried this process twice and then chickened out to go any further due to not knowing for sure it she was asleep or not. I've heard never play around in the e-box if the car is awake. Hopefully, my buddy can help with the install later this week.

Why didn't you just disconnect the battery?

tonyb635 04-11-2011 10:10 AM

Yeah , I read that and figured that would for sure put it in a sleep mode but wasn't 100% sure...

Disconnect the battery; you have a 100% chance of putting it to sleep that way.

Go slow, print out the install guide. REMOVE THE SILVER ECU from the box when installing the sliders. makes life 987329042394932940324328409 times easier. Should take about 30minutes the first time. I could do it in about 5 knowing where the clips to remove things are.

Messing with the ECU is a PITA. I do not miss the day I installed my JB

Yeah Terry replied back and said a car with the alarm will make this noise and it's still asleep. I think I will disconnect the battery as well like you recommended. If my bud is not available tomorrow I will try it myself.

Ok, we completed the install last night and the car is really alive now! The software defaults to MAPP1 which is a pretty good increase but I think I will switch to MAPP2 today. The install was not as easy as most stated. Or maybe it was more of all those damn wires that was just plain scary!
