BMW Group vehicle sales this January were down 1.8% when compared to January a year ago.
Sales of the X Series were up 10.8% when compared to January, 2006 as a result of strong sales of the 2007 X3. BMW car sales were up a miniscule 0.5% as the 3 Series was the series to have a good month.
Sales of the BMW brand were up 2.5% when compared to last January.
Again this January BMW outsold Mercedes-Benz (by 4,742 units) but still failed to out sell Lexus which sold a total of 22,118 units.
Please note that I only report the United States sales data.

You believe that this is enough to skew the sales of BMW NA's entire product range?

Why not?
Given that the OP says the January figures are BOTH up AND down on the previous January, we await basic clarification anyway.

Because you need to consider the proportion of contribution e60 sales make to the total BMW NA sales figures.
