Just when you think you have a perfect car. I can verify that on my LCI when started up this am. Outside temp 65F that I had the base 4 bars and not the white hash marks up to 4500rpm like my 545i.

Either it only shows up when its really cold or its not functioning. I think mal-function as irrespective on engine temp, it should not be revved past 4,500rpm for the first minute to get the oil fully circulated.

Was it functioning before? Or did you just assume they were functioning before overlooking it since you were so use to them in your 545? I would be suprised if BMW took them away in the new LCI.

Hey EMC. I assure you they don't work or move in mine either.

My car (535i) always shows 3 lines whether the engine is warmed up and running for an hour or started up in the morning.

Probably a bug in this version of the software that will be fixed in the next.

If these are designed to not move in the LCI then how will software fix it?

Or are you suggesting that the bars CAN move in the LCI? If so, why does it seem that BMW have "inhibited" their movement in LCI?

He's suggesting that BMW "inhibited" the white bars movement, by mistake, hence the word "bug" in his post.

Is someone here expecting us to believe that in the hundreds of thousands of miles of pre-release test driving the LCI (using the appropriate Progman software issue) that this wouldn't have been noticed?

To date, the "moving bars" have been an essential indicator as to the "driveability" of the car.

I think, if the observations regarding this instrument "sticking" are accurate, there's something more fundamental going on.
