Hi Guys!
I have an appointment with BMW tomorrow (its 3:30pm now) and they are going to change something on the car which I believe is WRONG. Thats why i need some advise.
A while ago, i gave a friend a ride and he hadnt been in a car with electric seats before (yeah! real twit!) - so he turned the knob to adjust the height of the seat too far. To cut a long story short, the (horizontal) knob to adjust the seat to go UP\DOWN, TILT & FORWARD\BACKWARDS, came off and after putting it back on, the chair does not TILT anymore. It does everything else except tilt. And now BMW say they need to change the whole electrical part.
So what do i do? I went to my drivers seat, and gently removed the knob on my side (by simply pulling). Then i clicked it back on, and presto! The same problem. So now on my side, I can move the chair back and forward or up and down, but i cannot TILT it forward or backwards (which is an extreely impt function !!!!
Does anyone know how to help me? How can i get it to work so that I dont need to take the Car to BMW to be charged a huge amount of money for a simple task.
Looking forward to your responses!
Ronald

I'm definitely not an expert on anything related to this, but I did find this excellent PDF file provided by Rudy on removing an E60's front seat. On its page 5 is advice on removing the entire electric controls panel of the seat. Perhaps you can try doing this and having a look to see what's not connected right?

Try recreating the problem for them using their showroom cars. I'm sure they'll figure out a solution that doesn't involve changing the whole thing.
And the electric chair did make me laugh inside, but I knew what he meant.

This is the END of discussion about the "electric chair" post.
Thank you.
The correct terminology in English is "power seats".
