I isolated the battery in my 550 before travelling according to BMW advisor, but when I was trying to open the trunk where the battery is located, it does not open using the switch. Any assisstance?

You could probably use the battery extension posts in the engine compartment to either hook a battery charger to, which should supply enough power to activate the trunk switch, or hook some jumper cables from another vehicle to these posts and open the trunk.

Gool luck!

Hi

I think it should be possible to use normal (hard) key to open the lock and then open the trunk by handle which is above register plate.

Regards

Right -- the hard key should actually pop the latch immediately (the handle above the license plate is just a microswitch that triggers the latch.)

(Unless you're one of the guys who installed the trunk M-finisher and covered the keyhole! )

I didn't know that - immediately tried it on my (locked) 520d LCI. It opened, but it apparently also triggers the alarm.

At least I now know how the alarm sounds
