if you have the integration kit no not without an adapter.

iphones/2nd gen touch's need the charging adapter. which i think runs about 15-20 bucks

Huh? Works fine on my 2008 535xi with factory iPod cable and a 16 GByte Ipod that I bought in January. Charging is no problem.

Is there something different about '09's?

Here's another thread on that: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=62054

From that, it sounds like the difference is whether you have the iPod/USB option from the factory (works) or the iPod integration kit in the glove box (doesn't work).

My 2nd generation iPod Touch works fine with my factory option. Can't speak for the iPhone but I'd assume that if one works the other will too.
