Hi,

I have a 2004 530dSE e61. It has a BMW dealer retrofit iPOD fitted; connection is in the glovebox. Everything works, but I have no instructions for the unit & there appear to be about 4 very similar MP3 program options visible on the i-Drive screen - most of which list all my tracks alphabetically, one shows tracks I have bought (i.e. downloaded rather than burnt from CD), but NONE showing what I really want; i.e. the list of music by album title/artist. I think this display was briefly available shortly after I bought the car, but I've tried all buttons to find it again & no joy. Could anyone point me in the right direction, please?? Is there a download instruction booklet available? (nothing in my owners manual - as it was retrofit).

Thanks for your help......

Greetings,

I just purchased an 07 550i and if your integration is the same as mine, this should help. Also, don't be too upset in that you don't have an album by artist option (although it SHOULD, but it doesn't), you can simulate this by creating playlists which effectively does the same thing. Anyway, here are the details you are looking for:

CD1 = Playlists
CD2 = Artists
CD3 = Album
CD4 = Genre
CD5 = Podcast
CD6 = Songs

Basically I created playlists in itunes for EVERY artist based on album. It goes fast, and from this point on I just stay on CD1 and my playlists are, well, sorted and organized by artist by album. I also found that the genius feature works pretty darn well, so I have a fair number of genius playlists I created (hence staying in CD1 works for me).

I hope this helps, if not let me know. Enjoy,
DaveR
