Hello, I'm quite new here, writing the first thread. I have recently bought 2007 530i from my friend and have few questions about ipod integration.
I don't have ipod kit on my car right now but planning to install one from a dealer. I wonder this will display song information like song titles on the idrive screen as well as the factory option does. Plus, I have the newest ipod nano(6th gen). Is this compatible with 2007 model? I heard 2008 model work right. I have searched some but did not find any clue.
Please help me

Welcome! I had the BMW iPod integration kit in my 2004 545. Yes, it will display Song Title and Artist just like the factory option does. There are some limitations on the number of songs and I think playlists that the are supported but it is a pretty large number. Sold the car a while back so don't recall the number. But in place of the 6-disc changer, I found it an excellent trade-off.

Sorry, can't help w/ the 6th generation question...

It is limiting, but compared to the minimal music capacity of the 6 audio CDs it replaces, I found it a very good option. I was using a much smaller Nano and did not run into the capacity issue. Again, 500 songs on my iPod Nano was much better than 70 songs on 6 CDs.

I have the iPod interface in my car and I am disappointed. First of all not all iPods are compatible to the car, I have 80 GB Video model and that one is NOT compatible. I do not get the playlists. I also have the Navigation Business and there is a limitation of 255 Albums, 255 Artists. In every category there is a limitation of 500 songs. Belive me, when you have 80 GB 500 songs of 255 albums is not enough.

Right, all these limitations are well known and should have been explained before installation. While for someone with an 80 GB iPod, the limitation is a real issue, the alternative of 70 songs on 6 discs is just that much more limiting. Don't get me wrong, I realize how behind the curve BMW was on this option , but you have to deal with the options you have. For a 2004 car, that is a buying a smaller iPod to hold at least some portion of your collection for the car or live with the 6-disc changer...

I can only think not getting playlists is part of the non-compatibility with the iPod Video or the size limitations. I had full playlists, artists etc on my iPod in my 2004 car.
