Ipod integration
I just bought a 2008 e60. I was told that I could not get a center console USB retrofit. The dealer told me that I could get an Ipod system connected through my glove box. Does anyone have any advice on this set-up?
Do you have a cd player in the glovebox ?
Dó you have navigation professional ?
If yes and yes, you could use a product called Gateway 500. I guess its from Dension
Its pretty easy to install, i guess there are som guides under do it youself

You can also get OEM ipod interface kit, this kit is only for Ipod and has no other media input or output unlike Dension or Dice. You will also need some coding assuming that your car is pre-wired. Here is the kit;
I have been down that road also. I did lots of research to get a unit called dension gateway 500. It can be hooked up in the glove box wether you have navigation or not, as long as you have a cd changer or cd changed prep , meaning its prewired for cd changer. I had dension unit hookup up in 2 of my e60s. One had navigation and one did not. Dension is good because besides having ipod connectivity with all text support and browsing capabilities you can also hook up Bluetooth audio, ish drive, it has aid in, and you can get video on your screen too. Another product that does similar things called mobridge , check that out too

I bought the OEM ipod Integration kit 2 years ago to have it work with my current ipod nano (3rd generation). For Christmas I received a (5th generation) nano but it won't charge when I plug into the cable from the car. Anyone else have problems ipod not charging when you plug it into the car? The guy at fry's told me he's heard of this problems before with the OEM ipod kit. I have a 2006 E60 530i

Apple changed the pin configuration ... if you do the search you'll find that you need and adapter i.e. by Scosche.
