ipod connection... 2 different locations ... difference?
My brother and I both have 2008 535xi's, but his ipod cable is under his arm rest and mine is in my glove box.
And looking around I've been both being posted on the boards... What is the difference if there is one?
Can anyone help let me know?

The one in the glove box is intended for the 6 CD changer. Many owners will modify that fiberoptic cable to utilize an ipod that functions with the idrive.

Not sure, I've had both before and I can't tell any difference.

Wouldn't the glove box one be the iPod interface (controls the iPod, but limited functionality) and the Armrest one be the USB audio integration (6FL - can be iPod or and USB, etc.)?

All of mine charged the mini glove box or armrest. iPhone would not. The USB will not put out enough power from what I was told. There is a small adaptor that changes the pin config. And I hear that works. BMW also makes another adaptor that has a power plug on it. It about 90 at dealer. Thus us what I used. Just ran power to armrest and it powers all iPhones up to my latest 5.
