My Ride: 2007 530 XI, 19 VMR VB3, matte grills, RPI scoop, MTEC V2 Angel Eyes
Default

Hello to all in this awesome forum!! just to start off, I have a 2007 530 xi and I'm happy to say that I did a couple mods this week. I just recieved my matte black grills and red RPI scoop from Trinity of course. I also got the rubber mats and I cleaned the inside!!! and I got new tires for my stock rims, Yokahama as530's ( cant wait for great weather to slap on the 19 vmr vb3's)AWWWWWWW I'm happy!! anyways the guidance needed is for advice or recommendation for my interior trim. I absolutely hate wood grain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would rather have metalic silver or matte black. so...I'm thinking of taking off the trim and painting it matte black. I am guessing I will spray primer and them the paint. please, any comments would be awesome!!!!

My first reaction...

You better be one heck a good painter with professional grade prep, paint and clear coat or you are going to end up looking like .

It's just wood, it can be painted, but not if you are planning on hitting it with a rattle can

U can take off the trim, and paint it metallic black. It will seriously bring out the car. U would have to remove the door panels. Or u can purchase CF vinyl from us and wrap it. The choice is yours.

My honest opinion, I would paint it metallic black or piano black. It LOOKS AMAZING! Sand it down, wipe it down, spray primer, then base, and LACQUER (not clear coat but LACQUER). My second choice would be wrapping it in CF wrap. I dont like metallic silver though.

Here's a preview of what we did for an E90:

I would go with a vinyl wrap as gives a great finish and can be returned back to stock if required. Doesn't have to be carbon fibre effect, there are hundreds of colours n effects out there to choose from including 3m's excellent machined alloy effect.

+ 1 on the wrap. Lots of chances to change your mind and correct mistakes.

Remember... you got a great car. Show the respect - it aint no HonDUH!
