Ok I've looked under both drivers and passenger side foot well and cant seem to find where the interior cabin air filter is... I want get access to there to run the car in re-circulate mode and spray some AC dis-infectant in there to treat the bad AC smell... I would venture to guess that it's located in the passenger foot well can anyone confirm or tell me how to access it?

My Ride: My 1st was an '06 530xi, Titanium Silver w/ gray dakota leather, sport pkg. & Nav.
Now my 2nd is an '08 650i CP, Space Gray, Blk Dakota, Sprt. Auto, HUD, Sprt. Pkg., Prem. Sound, High Beam Ast. & Comfort Access
Not 100% sure but I believe they are under the hood, up close to the windshield, on each side of the car.

My Ride: 2013 M5 - Sakhir Orange / Black Leather.
There are two. They are located in the plastic boxes right below the windshield wipers under the hood. Very easy to replace if need be.

Ok you guys are talking about the filter that filters air from the outside and into the cabin...
but what I'm interested in is the INTERIOR one... when you put the car in re-circulate mode it only circulates air from the inside of the car like say when theres something smelly from the outside... most cars have another filter for that and its usually under the passenger foot well but I cant find it in the E60.
When you put the system in re-circulate mode it does not draw air from the outside so there HAS to be a location where the car is pulling air from, from the inside... and want to know where this vent is.

What "dis-infectant" are you using? I'd like to do the same.

I bought two bottles of this and sprayed it into the vents circled in the picture above... (* outside air into the cabin *) it has helped... but has not completely eliminated the odor smell so I'm trying to find out where the INTERIOR air intake vent is for the HAVC where it sucks air so I can put the car in re-circulate mode and run the AC while spraying into the intake vent.

I will do it on all my cars

Hummm thats odd... I did look up www.realoem.com and like you didnt find anything... so I just thought maybe their data base was incomplete... but if theres no specific area to recycle air inside the cabin where does it suck inside air from to re-circulate through the AC system?
I guess thats all I really need... if theres no specific place I want to know at least 1 place where it re-circulates air so I can spray some disinfectant stuff in there and hope it gets carried far enough into the AC that it'll kill the bacteria thats smelling up the AC.
