i know NY is a finicky state for car insurance, but shouldnt your premiums DECREASE the longer you own the car (since its worth less)? mine are increasing (granted by tiny amounts) every 6 months. i find it hard to believe that my car is worth ~40% less than what i originally paid, yet my rates are the same. (no accidents, tickets, etc etc etc)

PS: this is with geico, is any other company good in ny?

many thanks
I have Travelers, and have had no problems.

Granted, I'm not in NYC, which I'm sure is more expensive.

I see the reasoning mentioned about your car is worth less, but it likely costs more to pay to get it repaired, replaced.

I do know that Gieco has some kind of walk-in no appt necessary deal with auto body shops. Maybe that costs more.

I live in nyc and before I had Geico and they were double of what I pay now, I have State Farm and they have been farthest the cheapest and I had the most horrible record when I was young but now I have clean record. I have someone in NYC who can hook you up, if you need to pm me.

I understand what your saying but the premium doesn't just cover your vehicle but also other parties involved if you are at fault. I'm sure there are a million other factors too.

I've been with GEICO for many years and never had any problems making a claim.
