Someone hit me from the back today, not hard but left deep scratches on rear bumper. I ve heard that some members managed to install M-Tech bumper through insurance claim instead of the stock one. How can i do this?

Thank you

Once you get a check for your insurance, buy the MTech...they give you so much money its usually cheaper to get the MTech that to take it in and get it fixed...

I did not find this to be true for myself however. When I was hit in the front, the MTECH came out to be way higher in cost. :(

There's a couple different ones you can buy. There are two M5 reps on Trinity Autosport (M-Tech and M-Style, the cheaper one) and then there's the one from Umnitza which I have been unable to get a price for despite searching all over their site. But Umnitza is also a popular one that alot of members do. There is no way a bumper repair should cost less than the $300 or so that an Umnitza or M-Style costs without painting and installation.

thank you for input. i'll try to get a check and buy M-Tech if possible. Hope will find a good deal on it

Update: The Umnitza is $349, M-Tech is $629, and M-Style is also $329.

Is M-Style made from Poly Propylene like Umnitza?

here in Cali fornia, the insured can take their car anywhere they want for repairs.

OP: what you should do is go out and get a couple of quotes to fix the damage. then submit it to the claim agent and tell them you would like to cash out and repair at a later date. i had damage to the rear and you can barely notice it. even if i point it out. the insurances claim adjuster came out and gave me a quote of 900 and something close to 1000. i went to my own shop of choice and was quoted 1200+. so im going to submit their estimate to get a supplement check for the rest. good luck with your repairs

not sure if i got the point across but what im trying to say is you have the option of which shop you want to use and when you want the repairs done. so just choose a good shop to get a good quote. show the adjuster how much it'll be to fix . and from there just tell them you would like to cash out and repair at a later date. then you can go get your bumper of choice to replace what you currently have.

our site is acting a bit funky for orders, if you want, give us a call and we'll help out on the differences etc.

Vlad - best thing to do is get an estimate, have the insurance company pay out, and buy what you want.

In Illinois some body shops are direct repair centers for an insurance company. You never get the check and it goes directly to the body shop. That how is was for the large body shop that I worked for. If you want to have them install a different(non-oem) you can ask the body shop to do this for you. Depending on the body shop, they may purchase the different part (with you paying the difference) or you can bring in your own bumper but you must tell them before the order the replacement parts. The only issue you may be presented with is the "installation hours" that the insurance company has allotted for the repair. It would be the body shops discretion if they will install using the same hours. For instants, if the M-Tech bumper takes more time to install than a stock bumper, then they may bill you for the difference. I would discuss that with them before you have them start working on the car. Good Luck
