yea, the main reason why i MUST retrofit my E60 with nav is to replace that god awful 4.5" screen that is currently in there. the dash looks empty, the screen resolution is horrible. i hate it. i am considering the hard drive version for my retrofit...there's a few of the on ebay (probably hot, but i dont care! lol) so i might go that route. im looking to do it this summer...after my mtech body kit of course.

It's actually 6.6" for MASK.

In any case, good luck to you guys. I personally don't think that spending $4k on that is the best way to mod the car, but to each his own.

You can get the CIC based system for about 2800 fully coded and activated. From what I've read, if you go CIC off of eBay you will have big money in getting it coded and activated.

Keep an eye on eBay, there are always good deals on there, just wait until one comes along. Especially with the 10% cash back thing they're doing with internet explorer. I got all the parts including a combox for about 1400 and coded almost everything myself. The only thing you won't be able to is the nav activation but you can buy an adapter for that which you can sell later or include to make reselling it easier.

The money for coding is pretty outrageous. I did pretty much all of it with ncs expert and activated the options/languages/etc in about 15 minutes. I think a lot of those guys charge hundreds of dollars, seems like kind of a scam for what is actually being done. You can easily get the VIN out of the new CIC with tool32 as well and order the fsc code to update the maps for 100 dollars.

To put it in perspective, the one site is selling the combox for over 600 dollars, I got mine for $254 brand new from BMW.

Just get an iPad with 3G and download MotionXGPS app and mounted front of your iDrive Screen. Connect the aux to the iPad headphone jack and it will save you headaches and a bundle of cash.

wow that doesn't look very safe at all.

I have a ipad, but am actually getting a samsung galaxy tab, I'm wondering now after seeing your pic if the galaxy would fit better there
How is yours mounted?
