Probably the combined heat caused your problem, with normal angel eye I doubt you would have had a problem as these cars are desinged to work in extreme conditions.

Nope. It simply is because that bulb isn't designed to be on for more than a few seconds at a time.

I know two other incidents that the owners did not have HID AE (but improper coding for lci conversion) that resulted in melted cornering lens.

Edit: Actually, I went back and look at the pics Steli posted. It does appear that the headlights he has on are non AHL. Will verify with him after getting some more pics. I had assumed it was AHL since it's standard in the US, and he bought the lights in the US.

Steli sent me more pic, looks like my edit above was not necessary. His are adaptives, and the lenses just melted so terribly that it shows zero semblance of the fluted cornering lens that are on adaptive headlights.

So my LCI car uses the bi-xenons for Flash-To-Pass. This is because someone coded it like a fool (flashing xenons during the day is dumb, IMO)?

No, that's how it functions on the LCIs now.

I knew that they are supposed to burn only short time, but as they use big safety margins I supposed they would be fine to burn continously in most circumstances.
But it seems not.
