Hello from Spain!
I'm new in the forum and new in BMW! 2 weeks ago I bought a e61 525d in Germany with 4 years (manuf 17-12-2004). Now I have first problem with it. Suddenly two days ago while in a highway the sign of ice in tarmac went on and it scared me because we are now in some 20?C. The outside temp reading was -20?C and going up. It remained in minutes in -2?C I stopped the car an turned it off. When off it went to -12?C and wen I ran it on again went to -2?C (real temp outside around 20?C). Also the clima went wrong and decided not to put more A/C... hot air coming trough venilation...
Sooo. I decided some conection has refused to work OK in the temp sensor. Searching for the position of the temp sensor in the forums i read the secret OBD menu. I realized also my engine's temp was low (but is another story). What a surprise that in the secret menu ambient temperature was right!! So I have located the temp probe that is in front of the radiator in lthe low part that works ok (tested with the fingers and other reading the OBD secret menu), but I think there should be another probe somewhere.
Does anybody know where is it located?
Thanks an sorry for my awfull dialect of english

Bienvenido!, estas buscando el sensor de la temperatura? Eso se ve que parece que necesitas remplazar el sensor.

The one in front of the radiator in the lower part of the venting hole. Like a small antenna before the intercooler. That one is the outside temp for the Injection Computer. The one I look for is the instrument dashboard one(el del cuadro de instrumentos que sale junto a la hora) the temp next to the hour reading.

Ok, yesterday I dismantled the lower part of the car to search for the lost temp probe and to test I disconnected the probe in front of the radiator. Suddenly both of the temp readings went to -40?C. So, I think there is only one probe. When I plugged the connector on again both readings started to say the same value.
Maybe has been a failure in the CAM bus or something what was wrong, but now is OK again.
Thanks for your understanding.

For the low engine temps, make sure you check my post; HERE...
It's already 13pages so it takes some time but it's worth it!

Thanks. I'm reading all the pages, that's why i didn't asked for help in that thing. With my mechanic we are talking of the defective thermostats. Wi will take the egr one off and test it, change it if deffective and waif if the main is also wrong.
I will post my fuel average in that thread when I do somthing. Now is in 7.2-8.0 l/100km range (very far from specs). I think is quite high because my other car Renault Laguna is around 6.1l/100km (near specs). I drive gently on both cases.
