mine displays this message once in a while; car (01-2006 550) was at the dealers a month ago because of it and they replaced the entire steering column (at least this is what they said:"the carcomputer readout says this has to be replaced, better sure than sorry") needless to say the warning "excessive battery drain" has allready showed up again

I had this message for the first time this morning. The car has lost all data (time, fuel comsumption, the trip computer had reset etc.).

The car was in the garage overnight. No ddors open, no interior lights on.

I thought the new car would be better in quality, but then I might be wrong again....

Clutching at straws - but was it very cold overnight? In a garage it should not matter too much, but...

It was 34F, but in the garage it was over 50F. Now the car is sitting outside in the work parking lot - lets see what happens when I go home...

It won't be temp, then. It was 28/30 over here (South-East UK), and I certainly had no problem, but the night temperature went from low 50s to low 30s quite suddenly here, so I thought it might have done worse in the US.

I had exactly the same but has happened after the first start up in the morning. Pretty much I started and run and after few miles I stopped. When I went back to the car after an hour or so nothing was working, I had to open the car with the key, the CA not working, alarm neither, inside all data's gone. Fortunately started up and after the same driving I stopped at home and shut down. Few minutes later went back to the car and alert message was gone....
Tried ask the dealer........... go figure........

The problem I had has now been fixed. Water was coming in to the boot through a faulty seal around the fuel cap. This water was then sitting around the battery and had caused some corrosion on one of the electrical joints. All sorted and dried now with various items changed over.

No errors for me anymore.

I have this message each time I let my mobile phone in charge for more than one hour with the engine stopped. How a mobile phone can discharge a diesel car battery ? If your car starts promptly, you don't have a real problem. Some other battery drain problems were fixed in Progman 20 or later.

I just started getting a similar message on my LCI 525d. After some experimentation, it message displays when I lock the car and it sits for 30 mins or so, but everything seems fine if I leave the it unlocked. So far, I have not had any difficultly starting the car. I suspect I either have a faulty sensor or something is not right with Comfort Access.

Anyone have any other thoughts?
