This morning, while I was driving at about 50 MPH outside temperature was about 44-45 and the car also showed about +42F but about a mile on the freeway, I saw a warning flashed in my HUD *Outside Temperature 36F (with a snow flack sign :D ) Is there any significance for the outside temp waring being at 36*F. The temp showed on the dash board was also 36F and then it started to climb up slowly but still showing about 38-39F while it was more like 46-47 outside. It was FOGGY and cloudy though.
Is this normal, I have not seen this kind of behavior before. Has anybody else experienced this? Sorry for the nobee question, I have had my car for only about two months now and loving every minute of driving it. :) Thanks |
I got the same thing on my E60 when I went back home this past week to Chicago. The temperature was well below the 46 it said it was, and then after sometime the 37- snowflake came on, warning me about icy conditions. I just ignored it, because it came up only once after I started the car, but I just thought it was normal for the car to warn me like that.

Personally I've found the temp gauge to be pretty accurate usually. If you're sitting in traffic it tends to go up a little, I'm guessing from heat soak from the engine bay, but otherwise it seems to correspond to other temp measurements. Maybe the Germans can't calculate the C/F conversion properly :). |
