Your situation is different from mine. Buying a vehicle that is certified from a private individual does not affect the certification status.

My situation is like balbs'. He bought a previously certified vehicle from a non-BMW dealership. Judging from his experience, I should still have the warranty remaining.

Default coverage

That is absolutely correct. The only time a vehicle could loose its CPO coverage would be when a BMW dealer inspects and offers a car as CPO and then fails to sell this car at retail and sends it to auction. Once the car is sold CPO at retail the warranty stays with the car.

Default Update

The whole point is moot now...the vehicle was sold. I am looking at another vehicle from a private seller that is in Texas instead of California so I wouldn't have to pay for shipping. This vehicle has 103,500 miles but the current owner has complete service records and seems to have taken care of it. He used it predominantly for highway driving which is exactly what I will be using it for so I don't mind the miles. I plan to get inspection by an indie BMW mechanic that I found nearby tomorrow. Hopefully this vehicle is as clean as it is portrayed to be.
