Just ordered a set of extreme summers; Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Once i break em' in considering trying them out on a track.

I need to check with my insurance agent
Wondering how that conversation will go over.
Anyone have any track experience with a 550?
Have not taken mine to the track but have gone to numerous autocrosses. If you have the sports package, the cars very well (especially for such a large car). Once the tires have been "heat cycled", the 550 can take the corners very well. But because the car is heavy, you pretty much have to throttle steer the beast. There'll be more then enough torque. The problem is the open diff - it'll be tough to put the power down (provided you completely disable the electronic nannies).

It's so nice putting the summers back on, you can finally use 1st gear again with full power. The winters just spin like crazy until selecting second gear.

Keeping my summers on in the winter is not an option for me as I have just one car. So I need to be able to drive if it snows. And even without snow, the grip provided by summer tires declines dramatically in the cold weather.

Still, it is such an awesome feeling to drive the car with my summer rubber and my 172s.

No its not! 138's have much more character.. Also winter tires are cheaper and has more protection from potholes than 123 18's.
