Escort makes a portable GPS tracking device that can be hidden inside the car, and it is automatically armed when you leave the car by a keyfob with proximity sensor.

Entourage PS - Entourage CIS - Escort Inc.

The question I have always wondered, however... If your car got stolen, would you actually want it back?

Default God please guard my car.

Thanks for the response. I'm leaning more into the Viper alarm, auto start and smart module. I like phone app where I can talk to my car if I get bored. LOL

BMW UK has offered a modification free of charge to prevent stealing cars in this way. My 530i was modified about a year ago by my local stealership in Suffolk England.

That's is great to hear. Not sure if the USA cars are still in danger. I think the Viper Alarm has a rolling code feature.

If someone wants your car really bad, they can and will find a way to get it. This is not rocket-science. All these security systems are created by engineers and some other engineer can figure out a way to circumvent the system. It's all a matter of how determined the thief is.

Get a good insurance and move on with life. That's my $0.02.

You are correct. Bingo. But I have over 12,000 in mods and insurance won't cover it all. So I need to make my car crook safe. So do I spend 50.00 on a kill switched or the mighty Viper?

For peace of mind when parked in a not-so-friendly neighborhood, I lift up the shift knob and take it with me . I've done it a few times; just make sure not to loose it .

Definitely disturbed me. I will be investing in a Viper system.
