I'm back!! Coding help/question to clear Fog Light/Reverse Light LED bulb error(s)
It's been a while since I've been on here, but glad to see the E60/E61 community going strong!!
I've been hesitant to get or use BimmerCode as i heard horror stories about some people "BRICK" their cars because they messed with the wrong settings. I also learned you have to buy an OBD2 adapter AND the license on the mobile app. A couple of life changes have me fully repairing/restoring my 2009 528i sedan (RWD) for daily driving (sold my F44, single after 7 years, lost my dog, major shit in work/working conditions, medical problems, etc. etc.) and I've been making repairs and small upgrades here and there to it since it has now hit 221k original miles. Most recently:
Can someone with more experience than me offer any help, insight, instructions or advice on how to disable the "warning" light for the Fog and reverse lights in BimmerCode? I know they (and the angel eyes) flicker upon start up - which I hear its just the car doing its voltage test to see if all bulbs are working correctly, but read somewhere that can be turned off also in BimmerCode? (the self test upon start up?) Sorry for the rather lenghty post, but I bought my 528i when I was stationed in Germany and its been rather good to me so far - just didn't drive it as much the past few years and want it to be a little more modern as a daily driver. I have other maintenance/repair items to do (drain/fill rear differential fluid, replace transmission mounts - possibly the flex plate disc/GUIBO) - which I have the parts in the garage already, but will knock out the list one at a time. Thanks all! -MD |
There is typically a "cold" and a "warm" bulb check. The cold is when the lights are off and it pulses a bit of voltage across it, which causes the LEDs to flicker. When I put LED reverse bulbs in I disabled cold monitoring.
I keep track of all the changes I code to my car in Github so that I can revert later. Here's the change I did with the LED reverse lights. You'll notice I set a few items to nicht_aktiv (not active). This was done with NCS Expert with the help of NCS Dummy. BimmerCode makes this much simpler for sure. |
Outstanding! Thank you so much kd7iwp for the information. That is smart tracking any/all changes for future reference.
Much appreciated! |
