You know what, my facts are slightly off. It is Chrysler not GM. All I know is that the US is supposed to be getting some Chery cars in the near future.
Chrysler, as in ol' MoPar, is now owned by a bounch of (@+&%) investers, whom made a deal with Chinese Chery - or something.
At least the German, now simply Daimler Ag, got rid of it.
Maybe the good ol' GM Buick is the car to run now.

when i was buying my car(2008) the salesman told me not to buy the upgraded airbags. he said they do more damage then good. turns out he knew what he was talking about and saved me some money. who knew

My Ride: 2008 535xi / Platinum Grey / Black leather / Step Auto / Sport / Premium / Cold weather / 18" wheels / Logic 7 / Comfort / ipod / Navigation / Fold Down Rear Seats / Rear Airbags / Sirius SAT / Spoiler / Extended Clear bra / Bluetooth. (Previously owned a 2002 sport 525I Loaded).
On order: 535xi Platnium Grey with Black interior, Step Auto, Sports package, Premium package, Cold weather package, 18" wheels, Logic 7, Comfort access, ipod adapt, Navigation, Sat radio, Rear spoiler, Extended Clear coat bra.
Well in response to the news I called my sales rep and ordered the Rear Door Mounted Side Airbags and the rear fold down seats. Some protection is better than none for the passengers and family. The rear fold down seats are for me. $430 for the rear fold down seats and $350 for the rear airbags. 
I think it's worth it.

but on a serious note theres a guy on the m5board that has decided to cancel his 08 m5 due to the poor test results of the side impact.
mind you that he has own a lot of bmw's. beware it gets pretty ugly
