I would love to do the Nurburgring but want more on-track experience before considering. The best track in SE USA is VIR with tight technical curves, long sweepers, and a long straight good for 150mph in a fast car (ie E60 M5).

For public roads, the Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice drive with curves, mountains, and great scenery but there's always slow pokes and increasing patrols. The Tail of the Dragon on the TN/NC border is an incredible road with 318 curves in 11 miles. Unfortunately it is also being heavily patroled on weekends.
Damn cops, always suck the fun out of everything......hey....hey wait, don't tase me bro, don't tase me!.....heeelp!!.....what did I do....!!!

Arizona - Hwy 89/89A in several locations:

89A from Flagstaff south to Sedona through Oak Creek Canyon

89A from Cottonwood south through Jerome, across Mingus Mountain, and down into Prescott Valley

89 aka Iron Spar - South from Prescott toward Wilhoit - 5500ft down to 1500 feet in 15 miles (guessing)

I haven't driven them in my E60, only my E30. I think its time for a short road trip.

I hear there is also one called Tortilla Flats in AZ that is amazing.

Laguna Seca: If local.
Nurburgring: If I had a choice.
Reality: Any twisties like Hwy 1 on the California Coast or Angelus Crest to Mt Wilson: I prefer the non-expcted, non-repetitive drives with more driver involvement ie: steering, manual gear shifting, avoiding the unexpected - like rocks or boulders on a twisty road, or drifting, or driving on snow and ice.

Without a doubt the Nordschleife...I'll tell you how it goes since I intend to drive the Ring before I leave Germany. It's a public toll road (or Touristenfahrten) on special days during the year usually Sundays. Cost of admission...19 Euros.

Do you plan to drive it, or take the ring taxi with Sabine..?

Nurburgring is only one hour from my front door. Don't know about doing 20 all at once. Every time I make it around unscathed, I thank the Lord. Seems like there is always at least a handful of acidents each lap.

Probably both. I've never taken the taxi but if you go with 3 other dudes, it's lots of fun and it keeps the price down. As far as driving the new 535 on the Ring...well, I've still got to convince my wife but I think she'll come around. It's either let me do it or hear me complain about how she wouldn't let me for the rest of the time we have the car which will be like forever! I can be one hell of a nag!

I can't believe there are no votes for Le Mans,

Lets see
blasting past start/finish up to the Dunlop chicane under the famous Dunlop bridge, has no appeal.
Ripping through the Esses to Tertre Rouge.....nada
Down the mighty Mulsanne right foot buried, clicking through the gears, speedo & tach rushing up together, then standing on the brakes at L'Arche, flick right flick left, repeat down to La Florandiere.... must be boring.
Flat out through the Mulsanne Kink down to the Mulsanne corner straining against the electronic limiter......
Leave mulsanne behind charging down to Indianapolis, trees & armco rushing by in a blurr......
Arnage, Porsche Curves, Masion Blanche, Ford Chicane....... blah, blah blah

Any takers???
Where are the Frenchmen on this forum!?

Ride along with the MB CLK GTR aka fipper.

You guys bought the wrong car if you are into the track. I can think of a dozen cars, some of which are half the price of my E60, that I would rather drive on the track.

I take my Honda ITR to the track when I go. It's a lot more fun, and half the price. Harder to find, but cheaper to replace if something does occur.
