when starting the car, there is a message that you have to accept. after you accept it, the main menu appears.

does anyone's idrive do this? i would like instead of the main menu displaying after you accept, to have the last screen that you were on when you shut the car off.

I think that everyone in the US with some sort of MFD has to "accept" the disclaimer, regardless of manufacturer. I had to do it with my 330 NAV system, too.

It would be nice if iDrive were to remember where you were when you shut the car off and go back there, but it does remember where you were in a specific module, so all you have to do is press the "puck" to accept, then shift it to wherever you want to go, and you will be right back where you were within that module.

yes..that's good. maybe the new software will bypass the main menu screen. i have a main menu dedicated button...i never leave the screen on main menu. i find that i always want to open communications after i start the car.

idrive is great..i'm just hoping they'll have new shortcuts with software upgrades.

can you imagine having a 'dedicated button' interface with all of the user options you can set in this car? and i feel that we will have more and more things to set as the model progresses.

For a while i have been getting in the car and pushing the radio button on before i start the car. Thus i do not get the accept screen just the entertainment screen. Not a cure all but it works for me.

OMG
I think that's a bug BMW will fix soon...

(I mean NOT getting the accept menu when pushing radio button first).

I sure hope not, i which someone would hack the sucker, so we can customise the thing, i think after the first 30 days it should not revert to the acceptance screen. Heck i really still do not understand the big hudy doo about idrive you basicly set it and forget it for most things. Heck i had a loaner 745li week before last for a week and i learned the idrive in that within 1 day and was pretty proficient with it. But i really loved the voice activation. We should all have access to it aleast for the climate control and radio control that should be standard.

BMW does not market a 745li in the US, they sell a 745il, is it similar?

Okay i before e except after c, i was a little dislexic thanks for the correction though. The idrive was easier to work than remembering the numbers and letters on the car

buddiec: Someone has hacked the sucker. There is a device which goes in the trunk, I think, which tricks the iDrive in to thinking that the accept screen has been accepted and takes you right to the main menu. Not sure where to get it. There was a post on bimmerfest (sometime within the last 90 days) fromt he guy who was beta-testing it, with picutres included! Pretty cool.
