I'm going on a trip this weekend and I want to have a constant supply of new music with me seeing as where I'm driving there is no radio stations (literally none). My iPod radio transmitter sucks in my E60 always tons of static no matter what station so I've decided to burn a few CD's. I was wondering if the iDrive screen is capable of displaying things like song name and artist name or album name instead of say, track 01, 02, 03...
If it can do it for the radio with the RDS it must work for CD's too right? So how do I burn a CD and get the song/artist info to show up on the screen? Incase anyone is wondering, I'm using iTunes to burn my CDs.

I have navi pro and burn my CD's with iTunes...nothing shows on the screen, just like a normal CD where you wee the title number,,,thats it.
If you want names and so on, I Think you need an iPod kit, so you can use the iPod's info displayed on the iDrive...

Not even CD's that I've purchased from the store show up with song titles and artist. So whats the point of the iDrive with RDS and all that if it cant even display song names of a CD?? The RDS and CD info (assuming its capable) must be linked right?
I've been thinking about an iPod integration but the stock OEM doesnt allow for both 6-disc and ipod. I've seen both in E60's by means of an aftermarket mod, dont know all the details though...

I'm typically really good with technology but I've never known how to burn an MP3 cd...Do you have to sacrifice sound quality/bitrate to fit more songs on a disk? What software do you use to burn CDs as MP3s?

very simple, create Playlist of about 100 songs on itues, click burn as you regularly would, but instead of a music cd, select data cd, or mp3 cd i believe its one of the other and voila, all your artists and track names will appear

I used to use Nero or WMP but now that I have a 120gb iPod, iTunes has become my major media outlet.
