iDrive screen blank and red lines after Android install
Wonder if anybody has seen this issue before.
I decided to install an Android screen in my E61 today.
The car is a 2007 with a CHAMP basic head unit with the smaller screen.
As I hooked up the new screen I was unable to view the existing iDrive.
I then proceeded to reinstall the original screen now the screen is black with red lines running through it although the head unit it self is working with audio working as expected
Is there a way to rectify this or is it new head unit time?

The first question is are you doing this work with the battery unplugged. Next would be have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the screen.

There should be a rectangular connector from the CHAMP to the display that transfers video. I would remove and ensure no pins are bent. I know that with the newer CiC when there is a problem the display does solid red (which sometimes happens after I turn off the car with my CarPlay box installed) but I doubt that is similar to what you’re experiencing.

says the battery wasn’t disconnected I tried reconnecting it and it still is doing the same.

So a bit of an update I decided to pull the head unit out of the car.
No bent pins on the head unit or the screen so something has either blown on the head unit or the LVDS cable has got damaged.
In reality whats the chances of a damaged LVDS cable?
Appreciate everyones help

Hey, so I realized that iDrive was working, just the display was messed up. Like if you press menu or use the dial you can see the menu changing and if you know how you can switch to radio and check if it's just the display or the whole unit. In my case it was just the display. I disconnected the wire and reconnected everything and now it works but with bunch of red lines on the screen. I'm thinking the LVDS cable is the culprit in my case, but since it's usable for now, I'm living with it.

idrive screen red lines after android install
The exact same happened to me, please tell me you have a solution, tried a new screen and still the same. If you could get back to me that would be great. Hooked up android system and idrive wouldn’t work so proceeded to install the old screen and was greeted by this.
