The 7's screen has a daylight sensor and dims/brightens the backlight depending on time of day. Why do we on the E60 have to adjust the brightness manually? :huh: I find it hard to believe that the system exists yet its not included in the spec of a ?39,200 car :angry: I know you can do it with the panel rheostat but then the dash lights go dim. :blink:

It seems there is a sensor located under the I-Drive screen.
I know for a fact that in my E46 it didn''t work until I had a later software upgrade. The screen would dimm itself with low sunlight or was brighter with the sun shining in the screen. |
Mine has always auto dim at night. But not enough for my taste so I turn it down a few more clicks.
