Is there a way to change the hibernation time of the iDrive when I go into the store or turn off car?

I hate waiting 15 seconds for that thing to boot... is there something I'm missing here?

Jdloaner, what model / year is your car? There is always a lag when you start you car and before iDrive present the "warning screen" due to the system check but I never time it ... I would have guess 10 sec max!

Jdloaner, when I started my car this morning, the iDrive warning screen came up right away , with a lag of no more then 1 sec. It would help if you could mentionned your car model/year.

I know what you are talking about. Mine has been variable from no lag with immediate disclaimer to almost 20-30secs. In those instances I simply drive away and clear the screen when the prompt shows up.

I think that the computer wakes up when you first unlock your car( Correct me if i am wrong guys, thx)
Try unlocking your car from far away, that way, by the time you reach the car and start it, the screen would on turn within 5sec or so.Thats how much my idrive needs when i first start my car.Maybe im just lucky, knock on wood

Doesnt hurt to try

You are correct, when you unlock it from the remote it boots the iDrive. I typically just leave my keys in pocket and the doors unlock as I grab them so I have to sit for about 7-10 secs while it boots up before I get radio/nav/PDC screen.

My car is a 2006 550.

I was just hoping there was a hibernation timer that would allow it to stay on for the first like 30 mins your car is off so while you are grabbing a Gatorade or whatever you dont have to wait for a full boot.

Seems to be the price what you pay for having Comfort Access and not needing to find that key from your pocket.

no lag and no warning screen on LCI, occasionaly would get a start-up screen with 'BMW' on it for 2 seconds.
