So my freakin IDRIVE froze while I was playing MP3s in my car. I stopped at a light, restart the car. Still frozen. CDs wouldnt come out. I am like...phuck. WTF do I do? Started pressing buttons and nothing worked. Voice command, menu, knob. NOTHING! Then I remembered reading here or maybe I was dreaming, to press BOTH eject buttons from the one disc CD slot and the Navi DVD slot and ur idrive will reset. Voila, works wonders.

Good tip, I had not seen that... thanks.
Every 3-4 months my stupid idrive freezes, won't display date/time and I can't operate the radio. Mine reboots itself after about 15 minutes of driving...

This was a known issue and was corrected by upgrading to progman 27.x. If your cars are still under warranty, make an appointment with your friendly local dealer for a software upgrade.

Glad to know that you found a solution quickly. Like someone said, you should do an upgrade if you haven't yet. Good luck!

I told the dealer that Idrive was reacting SLOW and it crashed.
Please upgrade to latest firmware.
(They won't upgrade if you don't have a specific reason (no known error))
Now the Idrive respond way faster and it has never crashed at all.

I had my software updated in the fall, nice new graphics for the Nav. Didn't fix the occasional freeze problem. I think the problem is related to the battery. The last time it happened I was hanging around in my car for the day while my son was playing paintball. Opening and closing doors/windows, moving the seat etc..
Graphics are nice. Seems a tad faster on some functions.
Cheers
