Have owned a 2005 530i for one year and it has been essentially "bug" free. Yesterday, however, when I shut the car off, the iDrive display turned bright white! Locked the car and the display still remained bright white. Unlocked the car and started it, at which point the display went totally blank. Locked the car, figuring that the display was new dead.

Went back out to the car approx. 30 minutes later and started it up, only to find that the display was now working properly. Have driven the car twice with no further problems. Am scheduled for an oil change in a couple of weeks and the dealer said that they will check it out. They mentioned the possibility of a software update.

Has anyone experienced a display problem like this?

 

Nope... but I would think its was just a glitch and iDrive didnt turn off the back light?
