I'm curious if my iDrive controller is working like everyone else's...
On the 04 745i I test drove, the iDrive controller provided feedback when you couldn't scroll any more to that side (tougher to spin). My 04/08 545 just keeps on spinning! :'(
Not a big deal really... just curious if that's how it's supposed to be. I like the 745i feel better.

My controller gives no feedback beyond certain bold items but a vibrating pulse when scrolling through items in bold.

I believe the "force feedback" feature is only on cars with Nav.
I have Nav and have this. When I drove a 530 loaner car without nav, the wheel just spun freely even when there were no other options to spin to.

I also like how the 7 you don't need to hit a menu button to change from climate to entertainment and so on...

So, if you in Radio and hold the controller to the left for a couple seconds, you'll now be in the Climate menu.

but like you said hold it for a couple seconds... I don't got that kinda time!!!
I dunno to me the 7 is just alot easier... jsut push once and boom!! I have gotten so used to hitting the menu button now seems a little quicker then holding it
