Just a followup on this...my car ended up needing a new CCC. So that has been replaced and I'm good to go. Glad it was under warranty!

This just happened to me on the way home from a friends. My radio wouldn't work for 5 mins than randomly came on really loud and wouldn't let me adjust the volume. I tried turning on and off the car but nothing helps, this sucks man. I got a date tomorrow!
, Please car don't get jealous!

Did they give you a new DVD for satnav? AFAIK, that is supposed to come with a new CCC.

Hmm...no, they didn't...do you have a BMW reference for this?
That was over a year ago - it might not be policy any more but you could ask.

Hey there humble co-founder! Glad you got your problem worked out -- I think the BMW Gods were punishing you for not visiting and/or posting on the forum more often...

No, I just remember (since it happened to me on 2 CCC cars) that the SA mentioned this when I asked why I got a new DVD.
That was over a year ago - it might not be policy any more but you could ask.

Edit:
Not to reply to myself here, but my dealer just called back, and he apologized and said they DID replace the CCC in my vehicle after all. I guess they tried the software route first, and then ended up needing to replace the CCC anyway.
However, he said that his parts manager and service foreman both had never heard of a new DVD coming with a new CCC. So, if I'm going to pursue this at all, it would be good to know which dealer/SA has made this claim, as they would presumably have some documentation or more information about it that I could pass along to my dealer...

But change of the whole brain (CCC) is not that common.
