Guys,
could use some help here. Have an 06 530i and had the brake pads and rotors replaced today. I took it to a trusted indy after listening to the iDrive CBS warning, the pads and rotors did need to be replaced. I need to reset the CBS service on iDrive now that I have replaced the brake pads/rotors. Anyone know how to reset this on iDrive?

Here is how it is done and you cant do a service reset from your Idrive;

1. Turn ignition to Terminal 15. Terminal 15 is ignition on engine off. (push start button so all warning lights illuminate on instrument panel).
2. Close all doors.
3. Press and hold the Instrument Cluster Set/Reset button
for 10 seconds.
4. The upper display in the Instrument Cluster will be
illuminated with a Service Item (example: An oil can is the
designation for Oil Service). The lower display in the
Instrument Cluster will indicate the remaining time or
mileage left for that Service Item.
Pressing the button repeatedly will allow the display to
scroll through all of the Condition Based Service Items.
5.When brake linning indiator appears in message center release trip reset button.

6.Reset message will appear, push once more.

System is now reset

you may not be able reset unless you also replace the brake sensors. there are two, one front driver (I think) and one rear passenger (I think). These may be reversed, but count is correct.

Exactly, the sensors have to be replaced before you reset the brakes. Otherwise, you will get a funky message etc... If the sensors were not replaced, I believe the brakes pads will have to be removed to actually do this. When I replaced mine, I don't recall having the proper access to just change the sensor.

I had the same problem but my mechanic said that I don't need to replace anything. I went ahead and reset that and the system actually lets me reset that without replacing anything!

If you are still unable to do that, check this out.
You can reset all warning you may have.

Hope this helps
